It’s the time of year when pulling out the bread maker is a must! Try this recipe and see if you can avoid eating it all in one sitting.

Recipe: Whole Wheat Flax Seed Bread

Summary: Easy bread maker recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup flax seed (somewhat crushed is best)
  • 1 1/4 tsp yeast

Instructions

  1. Add ingredients in the bread maker in the order listed above.
  2. Use a 2 pound setting.
  3. Select rapid setting.
  4. Bake and enjoy!

    The rapid setting did not work at all for this recipe on my bread machine. The bread just didn’t have enough time to rise and it came out of the machine in a small, lumpy little loaf.

    I think the ingredients look promising though so I am going to try it again, this time on the whole grain setting, which gives the bread extra time to rise.

      oh no! that’s so disappointing. I’ve only used rapid on mine (mostly because I do it last minute!) but I do know that when the temperatures are warmer in the house it rises better for me (same if I use non-cold water). I hope the other setting works for you!!
